Using Social Media for Research

A one-day workshop for library and information professionals who need to develop their in-house research skills. The focus of this workshop will be to look at use of social media to conduct user surveys, and wider public consultations. This is useful for closed groups such as corporate libraries and academic libraries and for public services such as public libraries.

This is a highly interactive session where delegates will be encouraged to bring their own research ideas along for development.

The one-day programme will cover:

  • Role of social media in research
  • Using social media to reach your target audience
  • Delivery of surveys via social media
  • Common pitfalls and ways of avoiding them

The workshop presenters David Haynes and Noeleen Schenk are both experienced researchers who have worked with government libraries, public library services, academic libraries and special libraries. They are both dedicated to service development and improvement and the appropriate use of research methods to enable library managers to deliver effective services based on best evidence and good practice.
